I've never actually finished FFVIII (GASP) but Selphie was one of those "I LOVE HER!" characters that made me want to cosplay her even though I didn't have extensive knowledge of the game. And when my best friend Kayla decided to cosplay Rinoa, it was all go from there!

Selphie's jumper was made out of a very thick curtain material that made the woman working at the fabric store question my motives. The dress itself was made using a really simple pattern and modifying where the zipper was put. The zipper was, stupidly, one of the most difficult part of the entire costume. I couldn't find one ANYWHERE! I ended up buying a silver zipper with a white edge and had to paint the white areas yellow...which made it REALLY hard to pull the zipper up and down. XD It was a dilemma..Anyway, I used sculpey for the zipper's design, more sculpey for her train necklace, (I thought it was fitting..) and blue ribbon for the braclet. And as a quick note to all the Selphie cosplayers out there: DO NOT under any circumstance hot glue the blue ribbon to your arm. IT IS NOT WORTH IT.

The nunchaku are made from wooden rods painted red. It was actually really hard to attach the chain but totally worth it once I finally managed to link all the pieces together. Then I added electrical tape to the ends and that was it!

The hair took me WAY too long. (2ish hours I think?) But I now have a Selphie wig (which took way longer than 2 hours) so now the costume is a breeze! Even though it's short, its ridiculously easy to wear and I love it!
