I know will probably offend 70% of the cosplay population by saying this but I REALLY don't like Kingdom Hearts cosplayers. Because KH has been so severely overdone, I swore I would never cosplay from either of the games. (Not to mention that I've never played the games!) This costume is simply a tribute of how much of a hypocrite I am!

For the Chicago Cosplay Club picnic, my friend Megan and I decided we wanted to pull together some last minute costumes for the gathering. Thinking that the school uniforms of Kairi and Selphie would be one of our easiest options, I put my love of Selphie before my pride and agreed. Unfortunately, this project was NOT as stress-free as we imagined. Because we're both detail-oriented to a fault, we decided to paint the plaid onto our skirts. Although we had seen warnings from other Kairi and Selphie cosplayers about how much time this took, we did it anyway and spent nearly 10 horus painting 6 yards of blue broadcloth. Never again.

I made the shoes using the front of clown shoes as the toe and keds/slippers as the base. I covered the shoes in a really nice black denim and used craft foam to make a more stable bottom. In the end, the shoes were difficult to walk in but very comfortable and held up surprisingly well! Megan was very nice and agreed to make the purses and did a nice job on those too!

I think we did a great job on these costumes but in reality they are just very unflattering! This costume eliminates my waist and makes me look like a house so I don't wear it as often as I could. It served its purpose though and I had fun!
